Barbecue Ground Beef

1 lb ground beef
1 Tbs shortening
1 cup onion; finely chopped
1 cup green pepper; finely chopped
1 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs prepared mustard
1 Tbs vinegar
1 Tbs salt
1 cup ketchup
1/2 tsp ground cloves

Brown meat in shortening slowly until crumbly. Combine remaining ingredients and add to meat. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
